Curriculum Development Process
Curriculum is what we want our students to know, be able to do, and understand. It is based on State and National standards, research and best practices, and the values and expectations of our community.
Curriculum is a process, not necessarily an end product. It should be and needs to be fluid to allow teachers to address student needs from year to year and the changing nature of education and the world. It is also necessary to have benchmarks that identify what we are teaching, what we expect students to know and be able to do, and how we will know whether students have met those goals at certain points in time.
To that end, the District is in the process of developing Curriculum Guides using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework and Rubicon Atlas Curriculum Mapping Software. Please see below for more information on these tools.
