Home Language Survey

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations require that all schools determine the language(s) spoken in each student’s home in order to identify their specific language needs. This information is essential in order for schools to provide meaningful instruction for all students. If a language other than English is spoken in the home, the District is required to do further assessment of your child

Annual Assessment: ACCESS Testing

Federal and state laws require that English learner (EL) students be assessed annually to measure their proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English, as well as the progress they are making in learning English. In fulfillment of these laws, EL students are required to participate in ACCESS for ELs assessments.

ACCESS Testing for ELs is based on the WIDA English Language Development standards and administered once annually in January-February. ACCESS for ELs tests are based on WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards.
